Fousheé Announced As Apple Music Up Next Artist.

Apple Music today announced alt-soul singer-songwriter Fousheé as the latest addition to its Up Next program, Apple Music’s monthly artist initiative geared towards identifying, showcasing and elevating rising talent. The New Jersey singer always had a passion for music, crediting her mom as one of her biggest inspirations and the person who introduced her to music early on.

Fousheé was catapulted into stardom when a sample of the singer-songwriter’s song “Deep End” went viral on social media—unbeknownst to her. “My friend sent me this link, like, ‘Is this you?’ I woke up, and it was viral.” From there, “Deep End” entered the Shazam Discovery Top 50 at the beginning of October 2020 and traveled across the world, charting on all of Shazam’s national charts.

It spent over two months occupying either No. 1 or No. 2 on the Russian charts. Across Apple Music, Fousheé has been playlisted across global top-tier playlists Rap LifeToday’s Hits, and It’s Lit! with over 100 million worldwide streams to date.“It’s amazing to be a part of Apple’s Up Next program,” says Fousheé. “Thanks so much to Apple Music for helping to share my story and music. I hope everyone enjoys seeing a little bit about me in this film we created.”“When you hit play on a Fosuheé record, it’s easy to get lost in the music because every lyric that she sings feels so thoughtful and intentional,” says Apple Music host Nadeska. “Sonically, it’s also exciting to hear a young, black woman fearlessly leaning into an alternative R&B space, while still incorporating the elements of reggae and hip-hop that influenced her early on.

I think she can be an important voice in music for years to come.”In her Up Next film out today, Fousheé shares details of her journey, including a traumatic experience involving a drunk driver that changed her perspective on life and deepened her need to break into the industry. “It was like a reminder of how fast things can change and how precious life is, and how real the world is,” she tells Apple Music. “It’s like you’re not going to be here forever.”

Additional Up Next campaign moments include a Jimmy Kimmel Live! performance on June 4 and a sit down interview on Apple Music 1 with Nadeska, where she talks about the impact R&B and hip-hop had on her childhood early on and getting to see Lil Wayne’s vulnerable side while working together on the song “gold fronts.”Watch Fousheé’s Apple Music Up Next film HEREPre-add Fousheé’s Time Machine (Apple Music Up Next Film Edition) available on June 4 and add the Apple Music Up Next Playlist into your listening rotation today.
