Hillary Clinton’s gown for the Met Gala 2022 has hidden embroidery honouring women.

Today, the biggest stars in fashion arrived in New York to walk the Met Gala red carpet at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Former US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton wore a Joseph Altuzarra gown to the event. She also donned a piece by him that went famous on social media for its hidden stitching on the hems. The design honoured Hillary’s lifelong inspirations, especially Dorothy Rodham.

On Monday, May 1st, several celebrities walked the red carpet at the Met Gala’s ‘Gilded Glamour’ theme. Hillary Clinton attended the dinner in a Joseph Altuzarra floor-length gown inspired by influential women in American history. Her mother, Dorothy Rodham, and Madeline Albright were among 60 women whose names were embroidered on the neckline and hem.

Hillary disclosed to Vogue that Altuzarra’s handwriting was utilised to write the names of famous women in American history. On the maroon robe, each name was handembroidered. It has a bateau neckline, long sleeves, a flared skirt, and a floor-grazing hem.

‘I knew I wanted to make the outfit special for her,’ Vogue quotes the designer as saying. People like Hillary don’t just go to the Met and wear dresses. It is quite significant. I felt compelled to consider the dress’s significance to the topic and the occasion.”

Aside from the maroon gown, the former US First Lady donned similar heels, ruby and diamond encrusted earrings and rings, little makeup and a wine-hued pout.
