Emma Watson birthday reveal: her favourite Harry Potter scene

Let’s go back to where it all began, the wizarding world, to celebrate Emma Watson’s 32nd birthday. Watson is most recognised for her role as Hermoine Granger in the wildly successful Harry Potter film series, but she has also portrayed a variety of other characters.

Her performance as Belle in Beauty and the Beast offered us a live-action portrayal of the delightful princess. Her 2012 romance drama Perks of Being a Wallflower character Sam is another favourite. It’s impossible to enumerate her many roles as Hermoine Granger without mentioning her first and most cherished role as Hermoine Granger. Let’s remember when the actress revealed her favourite scene from the series (spoiler alert it does not involve Tom Felton).

Watson revealed in The Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts that she felt the sequence would be “very awkward” at the time, but now she loves it. What is this desirable scene? In Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1, as Ron storms out on Hermoine and Harry (Daniel Radcliffe), the two break into a slow dance to Nick Cave’s O Children.

Reunion, she explained, “One of my favourite parts from the series is when we do our dance, which I thought would be awful. I don’t think I could have done that scene with any other actor given our level of familiarity at the time. I enjoyed how much was implied in the moment. And, like characters, they got to have some fun. We both got to have some fun, which we both needed at the time.”
